Free and Pay-What-You-Want 5e DMs Guild Highlights: Week Ending 10.5.19

Every week, talented creators upload Dungeons and Dragons products to the DMs Guild, pricing them as free or pay-what-you-want in order to reach customers. Dozens of new free and pwyw products are added each week alone. It is a lot to sort through. My hope is that highlighting a few of each week's best supplements will help the designers get the attention they deserve.

You can find previous posts in this series HERE.

There were several really strong magic item supplements this week, so let's start with those.

An Alphabet of Rare Magic Items from George Collie

The latest from Collie (also check out their Common and Uncommon collections) is an excellent entry into the series. These truly rare and out-there items include an elemental's massive toenail clipping and the tragicomic death mask, which can raise the dead...but with a terrible price.

One great thing about the DMs Guild is all of the community support that comes out for official releases. Here you have a new collection of magic items that tie into the themes and lore of the Nine Hells of Baator.

Wouter's Worldly Wunderkammer from Marco Michelutto

I know three magic item supplements might seem like overkill, but this was too good to leave out. The excellent layout and artwork really elevates this collection of 100 new items. Lots of creative stuff here, like automaton crickets and the "instant beard". Really, really good.

Mike's Free Maps #7 from Michael LaBossiere

The latest free installment in this long-running series includes forest and river battlemaps, as well as a full castle set.

Politics of Thrane from Joseph Meehan

With the new Eberron release drawing closer, don't miss the latest mini-gazetteer from Joseph Meehan. If you haven't already, check out their Aundair, Karrnath, and Breland supplements.

Emulating the chaotic hustle and bustle of a city can be challenging for even experienced DMs. This is a useful set of random tables and plot hooks to help bring a city to life.
