Free and Pay-What-You-Want 5e DMs Guild Highlights: Two Weeks Ending 8.10.19

Every week, talented creators upload products to the DMs Guild, pricing them as free or pay-what-you-want in order to reach customers. Dozens of new free and pwyw products are added each week alone. It is a lot to sort through. My hope is that highlighting a few of each week's best supplements will help the designers get the attention they deserve.

You can find previous posts in this series HERE.

I was out of town last week, so I looked back at the last two weeks' releases for this post.

Adverian's Astral Annex from Mitchell Cooper

This is sort of like a Xanathar's Guide with a planar theme. The strength here is the wide variety of options: feats, races, archetypes, monsters, items, and on and on. I also liked the artwork.

100 Things You Find in a Haunted House from Official Dndspeak

Useful flavor table to use for haunted houses, especially those of the Scooby-Doo variety. Trap doors that lead to brick walls, empty cages with chains piled next to them, pentagrams with melted candles; you get the idea.

An Alphabet of Common Magic Items from G COLLIE

These are sort of silly and whimsical items that might not be a great fit for all campaign styles. Still, if a whetstone that makes your sword go "whoosh" or "sha-wing" when you swing it sounds like the sort of thing your players would enjoy, this is the product for you.

Warlock Patron: The Bitch with Many Teeth from Alice Loverdrive

Ok...so this is a complete shift in tone from the previous pick. Grow new teeth and eat brains! The author claims inspiration from Scrap Princess, and that definitely comes across in the art.

The Mystery of the White Church from Alex Pietrow and Dominique Petit

This one-shot has an intriguing plot taken from a Polish folktale. Priests are dying in the small village of Skrzynsko...can the PCs unravel the mystery?
