Every week, talented creators upload Dungeons and Dragons products to the DMs Guild, pricing them as free or pay-what-you-want in order to reach customers. Dozens of new free and PWYW products are added each week alone. It is a lot to sort through. My hope is that highlighting a few of each week's best supplements will help the designers get the attention they deserve.

Free and Pay-What-You-Want 5e DMs Guild Highlights: Week Ending 1.17.21
You can find previous posts in this series HERE.
Battlemaps: Lightning Rail from Andrew Clark
This is an absolutely must-have map pack if you are running an Eberron campaign. Also great for any pseudo-historical game. Really good maps.
Silverymoon Visitor's Guide from Arcane Impact
This is just one page, but I really love the format. It comes with an extra editable pdf, so you can use it to make your own guides for other campaign locales.
The Admiral's Success: A Guide to Sailing the Styx from Rhodarin Press
Flavorful collection of hellish random encounters along the Styx for your Avernus game.
Advanced Skill System from Mattia Festa
This is an inspired collection of new uses for skills. While it offers a proficiency/expertise rule to unlock them, some of them might be things you can just port straight into your game so long as the player passes a check. For example, there is an intimidation feature where if your character kills an enemy in especially brutal fashion, enemy combatants that witness it have to save or become frightened. Don't skip this one, there are lots of good ideas here.
Temple of the Nightwind from Benedikt Stronski
This is pretty straightforward and a tad generic, but then it is meant to be. A short rescue adventure designed for new DMs and players.

Improved Inspiration from FryMinis
Inspiration always sort of felt like a tacked-on rule, and most GMs I have played with simply forget to use it. Here is a noble attempt to change that with a wider variety and degree of inspiration rewards.
Assorted Jungle Encounter Maps from Scott Avery
Really nice jungle map pack; you can easily design an entire adventure around these. I like that there are variations on the same map. For example, there is a coastal map both with and without a shipwreck.
Ballyfos' Inventory of Minor Magic Items from Charmstone Games
I have mentioned before how terrible I am at making up magic items. I also really enjoy lesser items that you can toss into your game without breaking it. This is a nice collection of such items, ostensibly for sale at a little magic shop. Bonus points for the well-written flavor text for each item.
Battlemaps: Caves and Caverns from Andrew Clark
Huge pack of 25 cave and cavern maps. Includes lots of bandit hideouts, underdark flora, subterranean rivers, and the like.
