Every week, talented creators upload Dungeons and Dragons products to the DMs Guild, pricing them as free or pay-what-you-want in order to reach customers. Dozens of new free and pwyw products are added each week alone. It is a lot to sort through. My hope is that highlighting a few of each week's best supplements will help the designers get the attention they deserve.

The Tragedy of Portkrevin from Green Bird RPGs

The Green Bird RPG team consistently create some of the best "indie" products on the DMs Guild. Their latest, ostensibly for Saltmarsh, features village-turned-hag-lair Portkrevin, wonderful art and maps, and, perhaps most crucially, a catoblepas. We could all use more catoblepas. 


Fungi of the Underdark: An Illustrated Guide from James Houlcroft

This is more like an art zine or something than a sourcebook. A collection of different mushrooms, lovingly illustrated, with commentary and notes in the margins. Refreshingly different.


Alden Lascar's Guide to the Strange, Peculiar, and Irreverent from Multiple Authors

This is an inspired and substantial (161 pages!) GM sourcebook with page after page of puzzles, traps, items, and creatures. If you can't find something in here to use in your game, you just aren't trying. Free.


The Age of Flintlock: Firearms for D&D 5e from Ben Murray

Concise and well-balanced firearm supplement with clear rules and neat ideas. I loved the different ammunition options. There are a lot of firearm supplements out there, and this is easily one of the best that I have seen. 


The City of Auriga from Timothy Cuddles and Malady Whitecrow

Wow. This is...wow. Stunning artwork and presentation highlight this gazetteer of a steampunk-inspired city setting. Clockwork creatures, new subclasses and gear, and a city map that has to be seen to be appreciated. Do not miss this one. Shockingly free. 


Coast of Despair from Babbling Wizard

This coastal/aquatic adventure would be right at home in a Saltmarsh campaign. Tidehaven is on the decline. The failing crops are one thing, but the sea hags and sahuagin are another. Nice package including a print-friendly option and separate map downloads. It would be cool to pair it with the Portkrevin product listed above.

LaBossiere again blesses DMs with a free map pack. This one includes ruined towers, bridges, interiors, and more. The pdf also helpfully contains individual links to Michael's considerable catalog of free material here on the Guild.


Hex Dice Vaults from Tabletop Unglued

The latest papercraft creation from Tabletop Unglued allows you to create cool little hex-shaped boxes for your dice. I love these.


Roguish Archetype: The Minstrel from Griffin Porche

This is a perfect example of why I do this series. With the weekly avalanche of products being uploaded to the Guild, it is hard to imagine that many folks noticed this cool rogue archetype, but I think it is great. If you don't want to play a magical bard, but want to add some bardish panache and flavor to your rogue, check this out.


The Murkwater Maniac from Nico Scarpi

Excellent little adventure in which the PCs must track down a psychopathic killer during a city festival. Great layout and maps. 


Hagspawn: A Half-Hag Race from Ted Chieffe

Now this would be fun to roleplay! Fight against your nature (or not) as a misunderstood teenage hagspawn. Chieffe is making a name for themselves with a run of creative supplements on the Guild.


Simple Mass Combat from Christopher Heatherington

While I would never classify this as "simple", this is still a very inventive and original take on mass combat. If you don't want to go the traditional wargame route with your large scale battles, check this one out.


A Feast for the Forest from Eric Milton

This is a nice low-level sidequest sort of adventure to sprinkle into your campaign if the PCs are travelling thought a forest. Highlighted by its very helpful layout.
