Thought Eater Podcast: Night Below Session Recap 7.14.19

Hi everyone, I hope you are having a great weekend filled with gaming! My latest session recap is up. Last night featured a massive hobgoblin battle. With a lot of players missing the session, would the smallish party survive to fight another day?

Free and Pay-What-You-Want 5e DMs Guild Highlights: Week Ending 7.13.19

Every week, talented creators upload products to the DMs Guild, pricing them as free or pay-what-you-want in order to reach customers. Dozens of new free and pwyw products are added each week alone. It is a lot to sort through. My hope is that highlighting a few of each week's best supplements will help the designers get the attention they deserve.

You can find previous posts in this series HERE.

Politics of Karrnath from Joseph Meehan

Having previously brought us a Breland supplement, here Meehan turns their sights to Karrnath. These are brief gazetteers, but they cover a lot of ground. Includes a couple of new magic items and a new spell. If you are running an Eberron game, grab it.

The Raven's Rocks from Green Bird RPGs

I have mentioned several of Green Bird RPGs mini-supplements for Undermountain before. They do these cool add-on encounters that you can basically plop down anywhere into existing adventures. They have moved on from Halaster's demense to Saltmarsh. I love these.

Mike's Free Maps Collection #6 from Michael LaBossiere

I am ashamed of how many maps I have saved to my hard drive at this point, but that didn't stop me from downloading these.

DM City Book from Joshua Raxter

This is sort of like a character sheet for cities. Might be useful if you need help organizing your notes.

The Cultist's Cookbook from Fletch Helle and Brad Berthiaume

Cults in real life? No thanks. Cults in D&D? Sign me up. This is a really nice sourcebook filled with backgrounds, threats, items, a bunch of new spells, and the Cultist class.

Humpday Blog-O-Rama 7.10.19

Blogs are an integral, vital part of the RPG hobby. They serve as incubators for new games, sounding boards for fresh ideas, and platforms for up-and-coming talent. They keep "forgotten" games alive, foster discussions, and build communities.

Every Wednesday on the Thought Eater podcast and blog, I take a look at what is going on in the vibrant RPG blog scene. Check out previous Humpday Blog-O-Rama posts HERE.

Thought Eater Podcast: Starfinder/Kalmatta Recap

Hi everybody. I didn't run my Night Below game this weekend, but I was still able to jump into a couple of games, so I am doing a recap of them today on the podcast. I played in a Starfinder Society game Friday, then jumped into Jason Hobbs' B/X game this morning.

Free and Pay-What-You-Want 5e DMs Guild Highlights: Week Ending 7.6.19

Every week, talented creators upload products to the DMs Guild, pricing them as free or pay-what-you-want in order to reach customers. Dozens of new free and pwyw products are added each week alone. It is a lot to sort through. My hope is that highlighting a few of each week's best supplements will help the designers get the attention they deserve.

You can find previous posts in this series HERE.

Book of the Cave Fish from Jordan Allen

Eye-catching artwork highlights this short supplement detailing the Kuo-Toa race and the Bilppde...errr...Blipderpoop...err...Blopderpo... Oh you get the idea, a domain for that Kuo-Toa deity. There is a short companion video on YouTube HERE.

The Vermin Lord from Michael Schmidt

There is a lot packed into these six pages. A new Warlock archetype, magic items, backgrounds, and more for players who enjoy things that crawl and slither in the dark.

Phineas Pherdek's Phenomenal Pamphlet of Piracy from Samuel St. John

Despite needing another editing pass, I enjoyed this collection of six pirate-themed archetypes for core classes. My fave is probably the Fighter "captain" option, which is reminiscent of the 4e Warlord.

Offbeat Encounters: The Auger Rats from GM Lent and Brock Sayre

Because trepanning.

Magic Items - Inktober 2018 from Sean Ross

This was a cool idea: a collection of new magic items based on last year's Inktober prompt list. I appreciated the creativity.
