Thought Eater Podcast: Top Three Tuesdays: Traps, Undead, and Horror Movies

Back again with more top three lists! Rob C from Down in a Heap wonders what my fave undead are, RFED asks about traps, and then I ramble a bit about my favorite horror movies. I also field calls from Evil Jeff of Minions and Musings and Angus from Kirby's Kids!

During the podcast, I also mention a 5e zombie adventure that I did a while back; you can download that HERE!

Free and Pay-What-You-Want 5e DMs Guild Highlights: Week Ending 6.1.19

Every week, talented creators upload products to the DMs Guild, pricing them as free or pay-what-you-want in order to reach customers. Dozens of new free and pwyw products are added each week alone. It is a lot to sort through. My hope is that highlighting a few of each week's best supplements will help the designers get the attention they deserve.

You can find previous posts in this series HERE.

Saltmarsh Ship Stats Sheet from Toban Barnes

Gearing up for Saltmarsh? Chomping at the bit to use the new ship rules? This ship sheet will help you stay afloat on the high seas.

100 Beach Encounters from Official Dndspeak

Another great tool for Saltmarsh or any nautical campaign. 100 encounters fit for beaches and islands. Note that these are not fully statted-out combat encounters, more like random flavor/story hooks.

The Eldeen Ranger: Ranger Archetypes for Eberron from Stuart Broz

I am not huge on the 5e Ranger, but this is a really nice set of five new archetypes. The author did a great job incorporating the flavor of the Eberron setting, and they obviously know the lore. Could be a good product to have ready when the recently announced Eberron hardback drops.

Half-Giant Player Race from Trystan Goetze

This is cool. If you want to play a half-giant of the cloud, fire, frost, hill, stone, or storm variety, look no further. Reasonably balanced, with good use of public domain art.

Dreams of Undeath from Gregory Hallenbeck

This is the first part of a trilogy of adventures set in Eberron. I was very impressed with the professional layout. The adventure itself works to subvert common expectations and tropes of the setting. Definitely worth a look, and I would follow the author to make sure you don't miss the next adventures in the series.

Humpday Blog-O-Rama 5.29.19

Blogs are an integral, vital part of the RPG hobby. They serve as incubators for new games, sounding boards for fresh ideas, and platforms for up-and-coming talent. They keep "forgotten" games alive, foster discussions, and build communities.

Every Wednesday on the Thought Eater podcast and blog, I take a look at what is going on in the vibrant RPG blog scene. Check out previous Humpday Blog-O-Rama posts HERE.

Thought Eater Podcast: Top Three Tuesdays: Fave Superheroes, TSR Box Set Cover Art, and PCs

I am back on the Thought Eater podcast with some more top three lists suggested by listeners this week! The show includes call-ins from a variety of OSR Anchorites including Jeff Collyer, Tim Shorts, JE Shields, and Ray Otus. Topics include my fave PCs, superheroes, and TSR box set cover art.

I thought I would go ahead post my fave cover images from the TSR box sets. It might spoil the anticipation, but certainly help with the visualization.

Thought Eater Podcast: Night Below Session Recap 5.26.19

Sundays on the Thought Eater podcast, I recap the events of my Saturday Night Below campaign. Last night's session was filled with humor and improvisation. And mutton pie. Extremely fatty mutton pie.

Free and Pay-What-You-Want 5e DMs Guild Highlights: Week Ending 5.25.19

Every week, talented creators upload products to the DMs Guild, pricing them as free or pay-what-you-want in order to reach customers. Dozens of new free and pwyw products are added each week alone. It is a lot to sort through. My hope is that highlighting a few of each week's best supplements will help the designers get the attention they deserve.

You can find previous posts in this series HERE.

Waterdeep Factbook from Mike Knudsen

This is a truly helpful Waterdeep gazetteer, complete with random tables, maps and more. If you are running anything in or around the City of Splendors, snag this immediately.

The Artist Commune of Skullport: An Undermountain Encounter from Green Bird RPGs

I've mentioned other releases from these folks before (here and here). They make some really inventive add-ons for the Dungeon of the Mad Mage adventure. Their artwork is also always top-notch.

100 Non-Combat Random Encounters from Dungeons and Djinn

If you have followed these posts or my podcast for a while, you are aware of my fondness for random tables. The "non-combat" series of tables from Dungeons and Djinn are perfect for quick inspiration and bringing an area of your campaign to life without straining the ol' noggin.

Planeswalking and You: The Primary Colours of Mana from JankyAss Games

These ten core archetypes are based around the mechanics and concepts from the Magic the Gathering game. I know next to nothing about Magic and still liked it.

Zebediah's Fishing Techniques and Equipment from Scott Borland

This is one of those odd and unique supplements that you just wouldn't see without the DMs Guild. High production values, strange bait lists ("Pick me up some mindflayer tadpoles at the store, will ya?"), inventive gear...this is entirely better than I imagined it would be. Wonderfully creative.
